"Rain God" the second single from Sludge/hard rock act Witchpit. The three piece hails from South Carolina and is comprised of Thomas White (Vocals/Guitar) of Your Chance To Die / ex The Sign Of The Southern Cross, Zach Hanley (Bass) and Josh Bishop (Drums) ex Bay of Pigs/ Low to the Earth .

"Rain God"

With more dynamic changes in climate and storms becoming more intense and more prevalent, it seemed fitting to write a song about the rain god (Chaac) ending the world as we know it in an apocalyptic storm.

Chaac is the Mayan deity  of rain, lightning, and storms and is often represented holding jade axes and snakes that he uses to throw at the clouds to produce rain. His actions assured the growth of maize and other crops in general as well as maintaining the natural cycles of life. Natural events of different intensities from the vivifying rain and wet season storms, to the more dangerous and destructive hailstorms and hurricanes, were considered manifestations of Chaac.
