'Tumi' is my first Bangla original single. When this tune came to me, it almost spoke to me in Bangla, even though I don't speak the language and that's how this idea was born . 

With Tumi, we bring to you a unique and a slightly complicated love story between two people who don't believe in caging each other in any kind of a societal bond. While the woman is consistent and stable, like a flower that is stationed in one place, the man is like a butterfly that loves the flower but is not always around because of his free-spirited nature. But the woman is willing to give him all the time and space he needs. The song brings to you the story of her state of mind and her firm yet gentle stance as she playfully, teasingly tries to convey the same to him. 

This is my first collaboration with two brilliant and multi-talented artists.  Santanu Ghatak, who has crafted the lyrics and has brought this beautiful and tempting storyline into the song that made me jump at it as I totally enjoyed exploring this complicated state of mind through this song. He also helped me out in the recording with the diction. Ashwin Srinivasan, the flute maestro has produced the track beautifully and sensitively, played the serene flute solos and also mixed and mastered the track. Given that both Ashwin and Santanu are themselves such mind-blowing composers themselves, I was very nervous as I sent the tune to them. But the promptness with which they agreed to do the song encouraged me to go ahead with this. 

The artwork has been created brilliantly by Barun Roy, as he manages to capture the transparent distance between them so aptly. The video edit and subtitling has been done by Siddhesh Sawant. 

As I recorded the song, my mind was proud of the girl for being so strong and self-respecting but my heart went out to her. 

I hope you enjoy the story of 'Tumi'.
